摘要

Hydrogen is considered as a clean and low cost alternative to fossil fuels. Hereby, the electrocatalytic water splitting reaction is one of the easiest and cleanest methods to obtain hydrogen (HER) and oxygen (OER). However, high overpotentials in both the HER and OER are required in order to obtain decent amounts of both gases. Furthermore, in both reactions, expensive materials as Pt for the HER and IrO2/RuO2 for the OER are used due to its high activity to the respective reaction. Recently, metal phosphides as Ni2P~2 or Ni12P5~3 have shown great potential as HER catalysts in acid and base.
