Measure for centrality based forwarding schemes in opportunistic networks

In opportunistic networks, since there may be no complete end-to-end path between the source and the destination nodes due to intermittent connectivity and frequent disconnections, the forwarding schemes for mobile ad hoc networks are invalid. With the increase in the number of people using social networks, there is a lot of research on using social networks to use less resources, such as centralities. We adopt the centralities such as degree, closeness, betweenness, and percolation to forwarding schemes for opportunistic networks. In these schemes, each node forward a message through only `hub nodes' selected by the centralities as relay nodes and these nodes send to the destination nodes. The experimental results show that the centrality based forwarding schemes improve the performance in terms of network traffic, transmission delay and hop count.
