How do fashion companies manage performance measurement? Evidence from Italian companies

摘要

Despite the high number of studies related to performance measurement systems, literature is still poor in research focused on how fashion companies manage the performance measurement process. The aim of this study is to fill this gap. The study investigates (i) how fashion companies are planning and managing performance within the entire supply chain, what are the fashion companies' features affecting the approach they adopt to measure performance and how, and (ii) which benefits and issues fashion companies have to face when measuring performance. This paper fills the gap in the literature in terms of studies concerning performance measurement in the fashion industry. Managerial implications concern the identification of sets of key performance indicators (KPIs) and approaches to performance measurements fitting to the fashion industry and the specific contexts in which companies operate.
