Leptospirosis is a well-documented infectious disease in dogs. This disease in dogs however can, and often does, have wide variation in reservoir sources, geographical prevalence, annual prevalence, seasonal prevalence, serovar prevalence, severity of disease, organ systems affected, clinical signs, clinicopathological abnormalities, accuracy of diagnostic tests, and prognosis. Knowledge of these variations can help the astute clinician appropriately diagnose and treat the disease.
