Investigation of neutralizing antibodies to determine lactogenic immunity levels following exposure to porcine epidemic diarrhea virus

Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) is an enormous concern to producers. PED is an enteric disease caused by a porcine coronavirus and is characterized by vomiting and intestinal malabsorption with watery diarrhea, dehydration and death due to dehydration in severe cases. The goal of this project is to understand the role of lactogenic immunity with PEDV by obtaining field samples, completing in vitro laboratory analysis, and quantifying neutralizing entities against PED.
