This paper describes a numerical calculation method to evaluate fluid field of tidal turbine array efficiently. The authors have considered using fan and porous media model to approximate a Horizontal Axis Marine Turbine (HAMT). The porous media did not take into account the rotation effect of the blades. However, the fan model can be modeled without defining a blade shape in detail and it is possible to further consider the rotational effect. Incorporating this effect, an analysis is suitable for the surrounding flow. Nevertheless, the flow rate increases artificially with a fan model and porous media sets used to attenuate energy. As a result, around 98% of inlet velocity recovered at 20D downstream with sets placed at longitudinal configurations. For lateral configurations, 1.5D distance between models achieved inlet velocity at 20D downstream.
