The hydrodynamic interaction phenomena among an array of vertical cylindrical bodies have received considerable theoretical attention in the last years. Applications of such configurations can be found from TLP structures encompassed with few vertical columns to floating islands supported by an array of hundreds of floats. The latter exhibits some remarkable hydrodynamic interference effects-near resonant modes-in waves causing large loads in adjacent elements of the array. In the present study an array of bottomless vertical cylinders exposed to the action of regular surface waves is considered. The loads due to the hydrodynamic phenomena between the bodies of the configuration are presented as a function of the distance of the devices; the draft and the water depth. The present work highlights the importance of determining these high loads at critical wave numbers since the latter may have serious practical consequences for large multi-purpose floating structures.
