The highest extraction of hemicellutoses (10% o.d. wood) was obtained for the autohydrolysis treatments. However, the pulp viscosity decreased. For values of green liquor charge above 4% the extraction yield increased mainly due to the dissolved lignin in the extract. The best extraction conditions are in the region of 1-2% of green liquor charge and temperature of around 160CC. Also 3% (o.d. wood) acetic acid is produced under these conditions.
