Water Reuse during Mill Shutdown provides Cost Savings while Conserving Energy

With the increase in environmental regulations in the industry, companies are looking of ways to save on operational cost and at the same time look for ways to be environmental friendly in daily operations. The equipment cleaning process during mill shutdowns uses a lot of water for the hydro blasting process to clean the equipment. Traditionally, the wastewater from this cleaning process is sent to the wastewater treatment plant where it will be processed and disposed. This puts a lot of strain to the waste water treatment facility to accommodate surges of water which leads to various problems such as increases in waste plant's resources, manpower, and daily operating expense. Rain for Rent engineered a system to prevent these issues, reduce operational cost and, at the same time, reduce the amount of water used for the cleaning process. The wastewater from the process is collected, filtered and sent back to the process to be reused in the same applications. This water reuse initiative not only helps in water conservation, but it also leads to operational cost savings through the reduction of waste to be disposed offsite. This can save paper mills thousands of dollars in water bills and maintenance cost.
