Research on relationship of energy consumption and economic growth in Chongqing

Energy shortage is becoming a serious problem in China. In order to research on the relationship between energy consumption and regional economic growth in Chongqing, we analyzed the time series data of energy consumption and economic growth from 1980 to 2011 in Chongqing, tested stability of time series using Augmented Dickey-Fuller method, analyzed co-integration between energy consumption and economic growth in Chongqing in virtue of E-G two-step method. Research results show that the relationship of the energy consumption and economic growth in Chongqing exist fluctuation in the short term, but there exists co-integration relationship in the long term. We put forward some policy recommendations for the sustainable economy development considering the actually circumstance in Chongqing.
