Massive Scale and Diversity of IoT devices. Unconventional traffic patterns: massive spikes, sudden burst, uncontrolled periodicity. Widely varying application characteristics: time criticality, reliability, size & frequency of data. IoT (low ARPU) deployed on existing MBB (high ARPU) network infrastructure. Scale, diversity and unpredictable nature of IoT traffic will negatively impact high ARPU MBB traffic resulting in customer churn & loss of revenue for network operators.
