The advantages of using double-track interstation tunnels in Russian megalopolises are specified. A considerable difference among the average annual, average monthly and extreme outdoor air temperature values, which influence thermodynamic parameters of the air environment in subways of Russia and other countries with subways in operation, are noted. The comparative analysis of factors determining the temperature regime for subway lines with one-way and double-track tunnels with traditional ventilation schemes is presented. Alternative ventilation schemes that include structural elements widely used in motorway tunnels ventilation are described. Using concrete source data, the temperature calculations in single-track and double-track interstation tunnels with traditional ventilation schemes and in double-track interstation tunnels with the ventilation scheme involving a vent duct and air recirculation were carried out. The possibility of controlling the temperature regime in double-track interstation tunnels with the proposed ventilation scheme is proven.
