Geoelectric signatures of seismogenerating structures and evidences for geodynamic pattern of India-Eurasia collision zone (on the data from Himalaya and Tien shan)
The mountains ranges of Himalaya and Tien Shan, attributed as frontal and peripheral regions of India-Eurasia collision zone, are marked by high seismicity and closely watched by seismological networks. For the needs of seismic hazard assessment and geodynamic studies independent data inferred from electromagnetic investigations are also important. We present magnetotelluric (MT) and magnitovariational (MV) sounding results over the areas of Garhwal Himalaya and Central (Kyrgyz) Tien Shan with a goal to illuminate regional seismogenic structures and to approach the understanding of their tectonics and modern dynamics.
