The effects of the respirator strap tension on the fit testing

摘要

The tension generated by the respirator straps can make the whole respirator fit onto the face of the wearer. When the respirator strap tension is too low, it may not have adequate fit. However, when the strap tension is too high it can not only make the wearer uncomfortable but also cause respirator deformation and, therefore, face-seal leakage. This study aimed to explore the appropriate range of strap tensions that provide comfort and adequate fit to the wearer’s face.
