Atmospheric aerosols affect radiation balance, cloud formation, visibility impairment, and human health. It has been reported that the LIBS technique can be used to determine elemental composition of aerosols in real- time (Carranza et al., 2001). The LIBS technique uses a pulsed laser and generates a micro-plasma with a laser ablation. The lights emitted from micro-plasma are analyzed by a broadband spectrometer and the LIBS spectra obtained are analyzed to identify element composition. In this study, an aerosol focusing-laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (AF-LIBS) was applied to analyze aerosols collected on the filter for 1 hour and triggering-LIBS was tried for single particle detection.
