In this study, we designed a novel real impactor with an inlet flow rate of 1500 L/min and a cut-off aerodynamic diameter of 16.4 μm, which can be used as a pre-separator for the inlet of post-sampling systems. Since impactor can be designed to have the same outlet diameter inlet diameter of the wet cyclone that is used in post- sampler, it is possible to make a compact and efficient aerosol sampling system even for a high flow rate. Fig. 1 shows the schematic diagram of our impactor. We tested and compared the impactor without and with an orifice before the nozzle. We investigated both numerically and experimentally the effect of the orifice on the collection efficiency and wall loss of our newly developed impactor.
