The filter apparatus (100) has baffle plate that is arranged between intake opening (4) and particulate filter. A flow path is provided between flat sides of baffle plate to enable flow of gas mixture from intake opening. An air outlet edge of the baffle plate is directed towards a pre-separator (3). An inlet (11) of the pre-separator is divided into superposed upper and lower opening portions such that air flow from outlet edge is fed to pre-separator via upper opening portion and to filter via lower opening portion.
