The foundry filter unit has a filtration chamber comprising a port for an inlet (10), a port for an outlet communicating with a casting (30), and a port for slag runner (22). A filter (25) for filtering the molten metal, is arranged such that the filtration chamber is divided into chamber portions with the inlet and slag runner ports arranged in one chamber portion and the outlet port arranged in the other chamber portion.
