In this research, we explored the effect of modification of diesel electric hybrid vehicle on diesel engine exhaust characteristics when the vehicle was driven on a real road. We performed idle exhaust emission test and actual urban road driving test. We repeated the same driving test for 4 different conditions; A) Hybrid mode : two motors operate at approximately 90% of power and the diesel engine operates at idle, B) Engine mode without Generator : only diesel engine operates to run the original vehicle, C) Engine mode with Generator OFF : only diesel engine operates to run the original vehicle while the generator was installed but was not in operation, D) Engine mode with Generator ON : only diesel engine operates to run the original vehicle, the generator was installed and in operation.
