To increase the construction speed of deep underground large-section rock drifts, this paperanalysed the main factors influencing the construction speed based on the essential processes of drift driving.For the construction method by drilling and blasting, it not only discussed systematically the effects of such factors to the construction speed as blasting and supporting parameters, equipment matching,construction crew,organization and management,but also proposed the countermeasures of expediting construction speed.Subsequently, a rapid construction scheme was worked out and applied in the construction of a deep underground large-section rock drift at Wanglou colliery in Shandong province.The field test results showed that the average monthly advance was up to 108.8m,which increased the construction speed by 117.6% compared with the average monthly advance of 50 m in other similar drifts.It suggests from this paper that to speed up the construction of deep underground large-section rock drifts, we should comprehensively analyze the factors of influencing construction speed by taking the drift driving as a systematic engineering and emphatically grasp the key issues to make the reasonable construction plan for each specific project.
