The development of soft reduction in continuous casting

摘要

The soft reduction technique has a history of 30 years development and now becomes a significant sign of modern continuous casting. The technology can not only reduce the center porosity and segregation, but also can improve the solidification properties of the slab. This paper describes the formation mechanism of the slab center segregation and introduces the parameters of soft reduction, elaborates the development of soft reduction. Finally the development direction of soft reduction is predicted.
