A remote control system for online dry ice cleaning of HV insulators in substations

A remote control system was developed with the programmable logic controller (PLC) as the core part. The system can be easily used for online insulator dry ice cleaning in substations. The system consists of the following major components: power counters, programmable counters, field sensing components, pump motor, dry ice machine, solenoid valve actuator and a monitor with a Tablet PC. The movement of individual parts is achieved by wireless control via WIFI and Bluetooth communication. The wireless communication control system has a high degree of automation and intelligence. It has a user-friendly interface and is easy to operate. With such a system, the substation insulator dry ice cleaning equipment can be used for the substations of up to the voltage level 220 kV.
