In order to degrease conversion cost, improve plant availability and boost productivity steelmaker's workcontinuously to implement operational improvements with dedicated performance enhanced solutions.For DC Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF) high performance and production efficiency can be reached by implementinglatest state-of-the-art anode technology with the associated process knowhow. The new modernization conceptleads to an extended service life of the anode, improved safety, faster exchange time and easier handling. Further,the latest anode development allows to: Run with stable arc and without arc disruption; Hinder arc deflection and consequently hot spots; Achieve higher power input with lowest current density; Improve anode heat transfer without the need of water cooling; Remove the bottom anode easily and quickly; Exchange the worn anode fast; Keep the high current line connected with no risk of damage during anode exchange; Work under safer conditions as no cooling water is requested;Operate easily with less hard physical work.In this paper, the latest results of DC EAF modernization will be shown and the achieved performance will bereported.
