As the environmental problems become more serious in recent years, Coke Dry Quenching (CDQ) system hasgathered a lot of attention due to the following merits.Power generation utilizing sensible heat of hot cokePrevention of dust emission during coke quenchingImprovement of Blast Furnace productivity leading to energy and natural resource conservationIn 1976, NIPPON STEEL & SUMIKIN ENGINEERING CO., LTD. (NSENGI) had constructed the first CDQ plantwith 56t/h capacity in Yawata Works of NIPPON STEEL & SUMITOMO METAL CORPORATION, JAPAN. We havenot only done many successful installations but also developed this technology and spread it to other countries,especially in China and India. In addition, based on our rich experience with experiments and achievements, wehave accomplished numerous original technological changes, which resulted in more efficient operation and stableCDQ plant. The efficiency and stability of the plant is very important to fully benefit from CDQ.Due to the excellent benefits of CDQ, the installation rate of CDQ in Japan is almost 100%, and the rate in othercountries is rapidly increasing, especially in China and India. In Europe, the installation rate of CDQ is still very lowin spite of the high environmental consciousness of European citizens. The more CDQ is widely spreading in theworld, of course including Europe, the better global environment will become. We will continuously aspire to spreadthe CDQ technology all over the world.
