摘要

Development of alternative sources of renewable energy is an important focus worldwide due to the depletion of fossil fuel reserves. Bio-oil has been recognized as a renewable source of liquid transportation grade fuels. Raw bio-oil is unstable and has high oxygen and water content and therefore is considered to have low fuel quality. Upgrading raw bio-oil using Hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) is one solution to overcome this problem. In'this study guaiacol and furfural have been used as the model compounds. These are oxygenated compounds present in significant quantities in raw bio-oil. The objective of this work is HDO upgrading of bio oil with a Cu based water gas shift and Mo/Ni/K catalyst system using syn gas and bio-syn gas.
