This paper presents the influence of tool temperature on cutting forces in the thermally enhanced machining (TEM) of high chrome white cast iron (HCWCI) using cubic boron nitride (CBN) tool by experimentally. Experimental investigation reveals that for constant depth of cut and surface temperature, tool tip temperature and cutting force decreases as the cutting speed increases. The addition of local heat lowers the hardness of the workpiece and enhances machinability characteristics. Heat observed by the tool hasn't exceeded 30% in TEM.
