In a continuation of previous work by Adil et al.(2012)and Sharma et al.(2012),which discussed only vertical wells, this paper discusses new learnings that were observed while executing work in deviated coalbed methane(CBM)wells. The hydrajet perforate annulus path(HPAP)fracture stimulation technique was applied to achieve the well operator's target of performing hydraulic-fracturing stimulation treatments in deviated CBM wells. The issues that arose resulting from the complications of perforating, stimulating, and cleaning a deviated well are addressed in this paper. The main challenges in stimulating the deviated wells were attributed to well orientation, encountering the formation at a significant angle to the rock fabric, and the stress components. These problems were overcome using advanced engineering skills and unique coiled tubing(CT)bottomhole assembly(BHA)design and capabilities. This paper describes different issues faced in deviated CBM wells related to vertical wells and methods used to mitigate them.
