In response to the current challenges for corporate foresight a new approach appeared inrecent years - the open foresight concept. In this regard the term "open" refers to both the content and the process of a corporate foresight project. Through the joint work with other companies know-how about the future can be generated together and then be used on single company level. However, the question of the design of such an open foresight process has received little attention in the literature. Therefore, the main goal of this paper is to increase the understanding of the design and management of open foresight processes. Based on a literature review and interviews with foresight-practitioners and experts a conceptual model of an open foresight process has been developed. This conceptual model contributes on the one hand to open foresight literature and offers, on the other hand, a fruitful framework for the design and management of a company-specific open foresight process. Furthermore in the coming months this open foresight process will be implemented in and evaluated with a research network for applied mechatronics.
