Benefits Analysis of the Selection of Operated Unit for Multi-type Hydropower Plants

With the implementation of the policy of energy conservation and emission reduction, the efficiency and water consumption rates of turbine generator units are paid more and more attention for hydropower plants. How to generate more power with less water is needed to be considered for each hydropower plant. Taking the example of the Right Bank Plant and based on the turbine model test result, the power generated of the selection operated units under different water heads are contrasted according to the actual incoming flow of Yangtze River in this paper. The Influence of different dispatch schemes and maintenance plans on the power generated are also discussed. The optimum water head for different type units and dispatch schemes are got for The Right Bank Plant of the Three Gorges Project based on the analysis. The fact that better economic benefit will be brought caused by the optimization of unit operated order and using special dispatch scheme under different water heads without any increasing investment are shown by the analysis results. A new solution to increase power generated for multi-type hydropower plants is brought according to this paper.
