New contexts require new approaches. In Portugal, in recent years there has been a paradigm shift in the power sector due to the increase of the share of renewable energies which are non-predictable, intermittent and non-storable (the national and international productive panorama), the implementation of the power generation market and the reduction of electrical consumption in the Iberian energy market. These aspects have led to the need of adopting more flexible electricity production technologies and a greater ability to adapt to new contexts. The production of water base plays a key role in this context, because of its flexibility.
