In the present work, the effect of operating parameters on bed hydrodynamics of a pressurized circulating fluidized bed (PCFB) riser has been studied numerically.Sand with mean particle diameter of 307μm and density of 2300 kg/m3 is used as the bed material for the solid phase. The mass and momentum conservation equations for both the solid and gas phases are solved by using finite volume approach. The flow model is simulated using the commercial software ANSYS FLUENT-14.The boundary conditions are applied based on the data of earlier experiments. The second order upwind scheme is applied in the spatial discretization method except volume fraction as QUICK.The results obtained from the model show a good agreement with the available experimental data under various operating conditions.
