Fine-grain tungsten-based materials own superior physical and mechanical properties, so have attracted continual interests. In China, serial researches including nano-composite powder preparation, sintering densification, enhanced sintering, alloy design and optimization have been carried out to control grain size and improve properties for the last 15 years. The results show that it is very promising in extensive application. Spray-dried nano-composite powders have been prepared as starting materials. Fine-grain W-Ni-Fe alloys prepared by combining micro-alloying with enhanced sintering show excellent tensile properties, large deformation capacity and attractive armor-piercing self-sharpening performance, W-Cu materials can be directly sintered to near-full density and shows ultrafine grain size, high tensile properties, good electric and thermal conductivity, and pure tungsten material can be sintered to near-full density at lower temperature.
