FROM PHYSICS TO ENERGY TO POLICY

摘要

This talk will be based on my experiences in Washington, DC from 2009 - 2011 as Senior Advisor to the Under Secretary for Science at DOE. I focused in DC on issues related to energy and the climate, and on bringing the power of computing to bear on problems of both scientific and societal interest. In the process, I had the opportunity to work with some excellent people in different fields,and saw how science policy comes into focus across a new administration. I hope to convey some 'lessons learned' for our field at the end of the talk.
