In pneumatic conveying, the flow rate of particles often needs to be monitored or controlled. Accurate measurements of flow velocity, concentration and flow rate are critical. Electrostatic, electrical capacitance and microwave are three common methods used in such applications. Among them, electrostatic meters measure the charges carried by particles by detecting the induced charge or voltage on the electrode. Figure 1 demonstrated the principle of this technique.
