Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) have undergone major technological developments recently which have promoted the deployment of multi-UAV systems in military and civil applications that require collaborative and cooperative performance of UAVs. With the advancement of multi-UAV systems, Flying Ad-Hoc Networks (FANET) have emerged with techniques that facilitates real time data transfer addressing the ground to node(UAV) coverage range problem. Though this transmission is not free from vulnerabilities, security issues of FANET have not received much attention yet from the research community. Moreover, the majority of the existing security protocols which may perform satisfactorily in the other ad-hoc networks, does not perform well in FANET due to the high mobility degree of its nodes. In this paper the significance of redesigning existing security protocols for FANET of nodes with high mobility degree is presented at first and then a fast and secure group key establishment protocol that also facilities nodes in forming groups inside the network in proposed. Finally, the robustness of the proposed protocol is also analyzed.
