Starting with the degree of freedom, constraints, instantaneous center and other basic knowledge points, the size of transmission ratio and direction of a single-row planetary gear mechanism were qualitatively analyzed and calculated by using the method of speed triangle, and a new approach to the kinematic analysis on planetary gear mechanisms is provided after eight kinds of single-row planetary gear transmission schemes have been summed up. A planetary gear mechanism is commonly used for automotive automatic transmission. In the repair process of automotive automatic transmission, the power transmission and kinetic property of each gear must be analyzed, and sometimes it is necessary to re-determine the direction of installation of a one-way clutch. In this paper, the transmission ratio and direction of a single-row planetary gear mechanism were qualitatively analyzed and calculated by using the method of speed triangle, to provide a theoretical basis for the installation and maintenance of the planetary gear automatic transmission.
