Increasing concerns about the global warming and energy demand force scientists to find out new source of energy supply. Among possible energy sources, solar cells are promising candidates. Production costs unfortunately restrict the usage of these cells.1 Cheaper and environment friendly dye sensitized solar cells2 (DSSCs) appear to be successful alternatives to more widely used traditional semiconductor based designs. However, most people would agree that, there is still room for improvement for a few components of a typical DSSC. This is perhaps more apparent for the electrolyte, and the sensitizer dye component itself.
