AWPA or ICC-ES Listing: 'Which Way Do I Go?

There are currently two procedures to obtain preservative product listings suitable for building code purposes: an AWPA listing or an ICC-ES Evaluation Service Report. Both procedures for obtaining a listing rely on AWPA or ASTM test methodologies andrequire essentially the same data to be submitted. However there are a number of subtle and not so subtle differences that provide a rationale for logically choosing between the procedures. This paper gives a detailed comparison of listing options whichresult in preservative treated wood being acceptable for building code officials and consumers.
