Modern mining processes require the use of large quantities of water, yet clean water is a finite and ever-scarcerresource. How do mine operators maximize mine output while remaining good corporate citizens and stewards of ourenvironment?This paper describes a proven sealing technology which enhances the physical separation/filtration process and improvesfilter-press cycle times. This is accomplished by replacing traditional flushed gland packing on pumps with a doublemechanical seal that recirculates clean water from a novel seal support system which has no moving parts.Improvements in pump and filtration system reliability/Uptime, with documented increases in MTBR (Mean Time BetweenRepairs), lead to additional benefits such as decreased maintenance costs and increased productivity.Seal systems installed worldwide are now saving over 25 billion gallons of water each year. Four case histories withproven savings are provided.
