This paper deals with the transshipment problem characterized by: (1) fuzziness related to customer demands and to shortage costs and (2) non-negligible fixed transfer costs. In order to derive the optimal replenishment quantities, that minimize the cost function, we propose firstly a transshipment policy based on a risk aversion decision making process. Secondly, we apply a hybrid algorithm, combining genetic algorithm and fuzzy simulation, to determine these quantities. We show also, experimentally, that the transshipment is more rentable for neutral-to-risk decision makers.
