Low concentration of platinum ions, which were produced by oxidative dissolution of the Pt anode during galvanostatic electrolysis, were reduced at the graphite cathode to form Pt nanoparticles with a cubic structure. This could be ascribed to slow Pt deposition which would be dominated by the diffusion of platinum ions.
