Mammals develop strong conditioned flavour preferences based on positive oral and post-oral associations (Touzani et ah, 2010), and this learning might be a determinant for an appropriate diet selection pattern when a nutrient deficiency occurs. The present study tested the hypothesis that pigs in a protein deficient status may be able to prefer flavours previously associated to protein solutions based on learned associations.
