When validating simulation models against experimental data, model adequacy and accuracy is quantitatively measured by performance indexes that quantify various kinds of distances between vectors: amplitude, slope, peaks, etc. Performance indexes proposed in the literature from different fields of science and applications are tested against synthetic signals representative of the typical output of simulation models of electric networks. The tests aim at establishing the sensitivity of indexes to dc value, discontinuities, different scale factors, usual defects of data vectors (such as poor resolution).
