摘要

The tensile creep of polytetrafluoroethylene was evaluated when subjected to relatively low loads. The current investigation used very low loads (less than 5 Newtons) and evaluated the effects of creep compared to predictions postulated from dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) time temperature superposition (TTS) techniques. Results from the investigation showed that at high temperatures (above 130°C) a correlation between long term predictions and DMA derived acceleration factors could be achieved provided TTS was based upon loss modulus data rather than storage modulus. This paper will report the data obtained along with comparisons between the data and supporting investigations utilised to define the thermal domain where the analysis is valid.
