This paper describes the stability analysis of a Buddha statue in South Korea. The Buddha statue has fallen to the valley, so the relocation plan of the Buddha statue is in progress. The possibility of failure during the relocation as well as stress concentration of the statue were analyzed by using LS-DYNA. Stress concentration of the statue at lifting and force to prevent it from sliding were calculated. Using the strength data from laboratory test, the possible failure region by tensile, compression and shear were investigated. The stability of the statue during lifting was investigated and the result showed that the possible failure of the statue was greatly reduced when preservation methods were applied. The Buddha statue was modeled for PFC 3D analysis using rock joint information, so that the crack generation/propagation during transporting was investigated. Based on the simulation results, the relocation plan for the Buddha statue was established.
