Collaborative urban sustainability using IT-Based procedures

In this paper, we explore a new approach to urban planning using the Internet and Geographic Information System (GIS). It develops the theoretical framework and its simulation, which is called collaborative planning. Until now, limited planning agencies as agents of government, planning professionals, and some civic organizations have participated in the urban planning process. However, the GIS network and can be involved in the urban planning process collaboration using telecommunication technology. This article first examines the characteristics of the information age and the paradigm shift in urban planning. It then examines the relationship between information technology, including Internet and GIS, and urban planning. Finally he developed a collaborative approach to planning urban in virtual space. Finally, it suggests some direction on urban planning in the information age.
