Decrease of the physiologic iop in rabbit's after application of some amino acid and antiglaucomatic mixtures

Purpose To compare effectivity of some amino acids mixtures with antiglaucomatic drugs on the intraocular pressure (IOP) in rabbits.Methods Experimental evaluations were performed on 5 female rabbits of the New Zealand species. We instilled always at 8.00 am two drops of solution of the amino acid 1.10% L-arginine.HCl with antiglaucomatics : a/ 0.5% Timolol+ 0.005% Latano-prost; b/ 2% Dorsolamide.HCl+0.005 % Xalatan; c/ 0,5 % Timolol+2% Dorsolamide. HCl (COSOPT) or 2. of the amino acid 10% L-taurine. HCl with antiglaucomatics: 0.5% Timolol+0.005% Latanoprost into the left conjunctival sac of the rabbits. The right eye of the same rabbit was used as control. The IOP values and pupil diameter were measured at the time of instillation, in 15th, 30th, 60th, 120th, 180th, 240th min and 24 hours after instillation.
