Resin Transfer Moulding (RTM) to Produce Surfboard Fins with Natural Fibres

To achieve higher performance in surfboard fins it is necessary to change the materials of construction from thermoplastics to fibre-reinforced composites. The industry generally has high environmental awareness so bio-based materials would be the material of choice if they can be manufactured at sensible cost and perform within the component specification. Resin Transfer Moulding (RTM) is proposed as the technology for the production of composite surfboard fins reinforced with natural fibres.
