A new innovation within the measurement of flotation process conditions has been studied and presented by Outotec. Outotec LevelSense~(TM) is a reliable and robust solution for the online slurry level and froth thickness measurement within flotation cells. Outotec LevelSense~(TM) utilizes electrical resistance tomography (ERT) technology and has been implemented in various copper, lead and zinc processes globally. The device has no moving parts, is adaptable to its physical environment, and has been designed to suit a range of cell sizes. A maintenance interval can typically be expected to be several months, and any contamination experienced on the conducting surface of the probe is compensated for by a series of advanced calculations. With greater accuracy and reliability when considering the determination of slurry-froth and froth-air interfaces in comparison to that of standard methods, Outotec LevelSense~(TM) can be utilized as a tool for automatic process control and flotation optimization. When the Outotec LevelSense~(TM) probe is utilized effectively, it can aid in stabilizing and improving the metallurgical performance of the flotation process.
