The Use of Methods for Evaluation of Financial Health of Companies Operating in Chemical Industry

Chemical industry is third largest industry in the Czech Republic. However it belongs to the most threaten by failure. A great number of information has been published within the field of the company crisis prediction and various models have been created. In conditions of Czech Republic mainly Altman's Z-score and Neumaiers' model are used. The parameters of the indicators vary from industry to industry. These models are based on traditional indicators from financial analysis. On the other hand models capitalized on benchmarking (e. g. INFA) may give more accurate information including risk and opportunity cost. Models had been checked on data of selected chemical companies. The aim of article is to draw a comparison of particular approaches to evaluation financial health and point to their practical use in chemical companies based on the calculation of models.
